Dealing With Politics
A company’s management made a point of saying that their new culture will not include “pocket vetoes” which are dissentions from staff behind the scenes; i.e. staff going up the ladder to share their disagreement after a project has been agreed to. A solution was to a) talk one on one with those who are not onboard to get them on board; b) tactfully let management know that they need to stick by the culture they’ve instituted (that is they need to tell their staff to work it out and not funnel things up (“pocket vetoing). Over time this should build management as well as others trust.
